Tavolara in Maxi Rib Boat
Duration 8 hours - Departure 09:30am
Leaving the port of Olbia, we will begin our tour sailing towards Capo Ceraso. Along the way, we will admire the majestic cliffs of Capo Figari, from whose promontory Guglielmo Marconi made the first radio transmission connecting Capo Figari to the Italian peninsula at Rocca di Papa – Rome. Capo Figari and the nearby islet of Figarolo are recognized sites of community importance due to their great biodiversity. A scenic path leads to the top of Mount Figari, offering breathtaking views of the entire Gulf of Olbia, from Capo Ceraso to the island of Tavolara, and from the islands of Soffi and Mortorio to the Costa Smeralda. Rounding Capo Ceraso, we will sail towards the famous “Doctor’s Beach”, where we will stop to immerse ourselves in the turquoise waters of the bay, shaped by stunning granite and rock formations. Snorkelers will have the opportunity to admire starfish, sea bream, and diverse marine flora. The small beach frames a fantastic cove, perfect for a refreshing swim. The tour continues towards “Isola Cavalli” and “Isola Piana”, where we will explore the crystal-clear waters surrounding these two small but beautiful islands. We then move to the island of Tavolara, a limestone massif overlooking the sea, where we will anchor in the stunning waters of Cala Spalmatore di Terra for a brunch featuring aperitifs, canapés, cold cuts, cheeses, and finger food, accompanied by fresh wine and a variety of drinks. Tavolara is a must-visit for trekking and free walking enthusiasts. Its steep paths offer incredible views as they wind along limestone walls. The beach here features fine white sand with pink hues, while the water is a striking shade of transparent green, transitioning to blue. The seabed is sandy and shallow near the shore, becoming deeper further out, with vibrant marine flora and fauna. Those who wish can take a walk along the long beach to the “Passetto”, a narrow strip of white sand that appears and disappears with the tides, and stop at one of the beachfront cafés to enjoy artisanal ice cream. The last stop of this full-day excursion is Molara, an island within the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo. Likely named after its circular shape resembling a grindstone, Molara is of granite origin and, while less imposing than Tavolara, remains a fascinating destination. Privately owned and not open for visits, its main attraction is the famous “Piscine” of Molara—shallow waters with a white sandy bottom, known for their stunning transparency and turquoise hues. Here, we will enjoy a final dip in these natural pools, rich in marine fauna and flora. A long snorkeling stop or a relaxing swim in the company of a myriad of fish will be the perfect way to conclude our excursion. We will then savor a glass of fresh wine and an aperitif featuring local specialties, canapés, and finger food before setting sail back towards Olbia, with an expected arrival around 17:30.
